And They Call This China?
This blog feels a little delayed, being that all this really happened about a week and a half or more ago. But I'll spare you the in-between details and stick to the story at hand.
Marriage, or lack thereof, is not going to keep me from doing things that I want to. I've been eatting off of hand-me-down, mis-matched china for about 7 months now. Of course I'm grateful that I had even that, but really the whole time I've secretly been looking for something that is a bit more tasteful (no pun intended).
While doing some Christmas shopping, it just so happens that I found my ultimate china pattern. I stumbled into a discount store one day and low and behold I'd found some Polish pottery that my grandmother was collecting. I rummaged through the shelves of cups and dishes and bowls, picking and choosing which pieces would polish off her collection nicely. As I examined each piece, I came across a pattern that I found to be particularly delightful. A combination of the traditional Polish polka dots accented with some simple flowers to border each piece. Yet there were not enough plates, or bowls, or cups for practical use and so I just tried to brush off the idea.
It really is true that things come to those who patiently wait, for about 2 weeks ago I wandered into another discount store, just for fun, and to my wonder and surprise I found a whole collection of Polish pottery with my name written all over it. Needless to say, I spent about $150 on plates and bowls, and of course, an entire tea set.
I'm so tickled when I open the cabinet and everything matches, the polka dots all staring back at me like little eyes. My elder sister would be proud of this purchase. A cabinet full of hertiage. This isn't china. This is Polish!
